Expanding Your Skill Set Can be Hard

At TrueJob, one duty my partner and I have is to create blog content. This means coming up with topic ideas to creating the posts.  I have always been able to create great writing pieces, but for some reason this time around I have been struggling. I am in the editing stage of my first blog post and it was more of a a challenge than I had presumed.

I have done some technical writing and have created a great amount of newsletters for BOOKEMU, as the Marketing Communications Coordinator and for the Ypsilanti District Library as  the Email Blast Intern. In doing writings and creating (writing based) content I have never really struggled until these past few weeks. One of my goals for the Digital Summer Clinic Internship was to expand my skill set. In creating this technical and very specific content I feel stuck. I am able to piece some things together but pushing myself outside of my normal writing comfort zone has been an experience. I have been feeling sort of frustrated but I hope now that I have done one that the second will come much easier. I think it is because the topic area is not one that I was very well versed on, and have never had to be so targeted. As I do more research and learn more about job boards and economic development organizations I am feeling better. So, even though this has been hard it is expanding my skill set! Expanding your skill set can be hard...but it's worth it! The one skill you possess over the next person may make you stand out in the job pool!
